Guided Tour: Florence and Fashion

guide tour Ferragamo Museum

Besides being a capital city for art and culture, Florence also has a great tradition in fashion and in fine handicrafts. It can be said that the Haute Couture was born in Florence. The city boasts designers such as Gucci, Enrico Coveri, Roberto Cavalli, Patrizia Pepe, Salvatore Ferragamo, Emilio Pucci and has the only museum in Italy dedicated to fashion and its history: The Costume Gallery.

This guide tour includes a visit to the Ferragamo Museum, founded by the Ferragamo family, where Salvatore Ferragamo's important creations in footwear design are displayed. In the museum are exhibited - in rotation - over ten thousand models, some of which created for famous people, as well as sketches and patterns who made the Florentine artisan so renowned.
A visit to the Gallery of the Costume inside Pitti Palace will follow, hosting a rich collection of ancient costumes from the 17th to the 20th century. The objects, displayed across 13 rooms, relate the evolution of fashion, from the stiff corsets of the eighteenth century to the short dresses of the twentieth centuryBook a walking tour of Florence with us!
